Watch Out for a Stress Fracture in your Foot

High stresses, strong forces and high impact landings due to sporting activities can lead to a stress fracture.  The most common symptoms are swelling and sensitivity on the ball of the foot around the second toe.  You might think that men have more problems with getting a stress fracture, but it’s actually women who hold the higher percentage.  Factors like eating disorders, amenorrhea (irregular periods), and osteoporosis add to the likelihood of women receiving a stress fracture.[1]

Lessen your chances of getting a stress fracture foot by having the proper shoe support, slowly increasing your activity levels, and changing up your exercise routine.
