Of course it is important to protect your eyes from harmful UV rays, however, you shouldn’t wear sunglasses all of the time. Your eyes actually need some exposure to natural light in order to function well. In fact, studies show that growing children need outdoor light to help their eyes develop focused vision.*
Instead of wearing sunglasses all of the time, save them for high exposure activities or try wearing a large rimmed hat instead. Also, when you do wear sunglasses, make sure they are labeled “UV 400” or “99-100% UV Absorption” to ensure that harmful UVA and UVB rays are blocked.
