A single dental amalgam filling releases as much as 15 micrograms of mercury per day, which is absorbed directly into your body. This can cause permanent damage to the brain, kidneys, immune, neurological and gastrointestinal systems. The Canadian government advised dentists to stop placing amalgam in children and pregnant women in 1996 — nearly 15 years ago! Denmark, Norway and Sweden have essentially banned amalgams. But in the United States, they’re still regarded as the “gold standard” of dental care.
If you have dental amalgam fillings in your mouth, check your blood for high heavy metal counts. You may have to have these amalgam fillings removed and replace them with ceramic fillings.
