Deep Breathing for Deep Relaxation

892The next time you are feeling overwhelmed, try deep breathing for relaxation. Breathing from your belly can maximize oxygen intake. With just 5-10 minutes of this type of deep breathing, you can experience deep relaxation.*

Abdominal breathing is easy once you learn to focus on the rise and fall of your stomach (rather than your chest). Inhale through your nose slowly and then exhale through your mouth; continue this cycle until you start to feel more calm and relaxed.

Regrow Your Hair with Iron

809 copyJust like the rest of your body, your scalp needs oxygen; with oxygen your scalp can maintain healthy hair. Iron is what transports oxygen to all areas of your body. Paired with 40 years of research, the Cleveland Clinic has declared that enhancing one’s iron intake can maximize the potential to regrow hair.*

You can help regrow hair with more iron; foods like lentils, spinach, red meats, poultry, beans and fish are all excellent sources of it. Before you start taking an iron supplement, be sure to check your levels with your doctor first.

Vacuum Packs as a Food-Saving Trick

739By minimizing your vegetables exposure to oxygen you can double or even triple their shelf life. It doesn’t take much to create a “vacuum pack.” Use either the bags from the grocery store or your own plastic bags at home to store your veggies. Before sealing, squeeze all of the access air out by flattening the bags against a counter or your chest. Adding a twist tie to the squeezed bag can ensure that no airborne microbes will get to your food.*

Get a professional vacuum seal by purchasing an item like a Foodsaver (available on Amazon). For a lighter financial commitment, invest in a Ziploc Vacuum Starter Kit which on average costs under $12.

Dangers of Poor Posture

1303Because poor posture causes you to compress your diaphragm and ribs, full respiration cannot take place. In addition to decreasing your oxygen intake, poor posture can cause chronic back and neck pain. People who suffer from poor posture look unattractive, feel older, and report a decrease in energy.*

Good posture requires you to sit up straight with your shoulders rolled back. Try a shoulder roll to reposition your posture. As you inhale, raise your shoulders to your ears, and as you exhale, roll and pull your shoulder blades back and down.

Arjuna Lowers Blood Pressure

arjunaArjuna (AR-jen-ah) can be found throughout Central and Southern India, and actually comes from the bark of a tree. Your blood pressure can be lowered about one point a week thanks to this compound which helps your heart use oxygen more efficiently. It has also been reported that Arjuna can reduce your bad cholesterol levels by 25% in as little as 60 days.*

Talk to your doctor and discuss the benefits of Arjuna. Arjuna comes in both capsule and powered form. For capsules, the recommended dosage is 250 mg – 500 mg, taken twice a day, while the powder only has to be taken once a day and should be dissolved into 50-100 ml of water.

Use Duct Tape to Cure Warts

ductPeople commonly turn to cryotherapy to treat warts, but freezing with liquid nitrogen can be both painful and expensive. Ironically, studies show that duct tape works better than professional wart treatments. Whether it’s the deprival of oxygen, the removal of infected tissue or the stimulation, duck tape is an at-home wart treatment that really works.*

Apply a piece of silver duct tape the size of the wart (and reapply whenever it falls off). After six days, pull off the tape, wash the area with soap and water and file down dead skin with an emery board. Leave tape off overnight and repeat this process until the wart is gone, usually within one month.

Use Hyperbaric Oxygen after a Stroke

hyperbarAs if having a stroke is not devastating enough, many people suffer from lingering disabilities. Not being able to walk and struggling with speech impediments are common experiences after a stroke. Because of restricted blood flow to the brain, certain brain cells may die due to a stroke.*

Amazingly, Hyperbaric oxygen can “wake up” the oxygen-starved sections of a brain caused by a stroke. If any of your family or friends have experienced a stroke, visit www.hyperbariclink.com for treatment options.
