Studies have shown that the simple introduction of certain scents into the workplace can directly affect the productivity of employees. One research company in Japan discovered that when lemon oil is diffused into the air their employees made 54 percent fewer errors! When the oil was jasmine, the percentage was still up, but only up to 33 percent. The reason is that oils like lavender and jasmine promote relaxation thus disturbing mental focus whereas oils like lemon, rosemary, and peppermint increase mental focus.
